T
HE story of the winning of the West is one of the most thrilling chapters in
the history of our country.
It is a story of the plains, filled with the courageous deeds of gallant men and
women.
One of the colorful figures among those who helped push our civilization
westward over the plains was William Frederick Cody, better known and loved as
"Buffalo Bill."
This story of his adventurous life was written to give young Americans some idea
of how much they owe to those who helped lay the foundations of this great
country of ours. It is also hoped that it will serve to keep alive the name and
fame of "the last of the great scouts."
